Maine PowerOptions is dedicated to helping its members achieve the carbon reduction targets that have been set out for our state under the Maine Climate Council’s “Maine Won’t Wait” climate action plan. This plan was first issued in December of 2020 and will be updated in December of 2024.

Fortunately, reducing carbon emissions and reducing long-term costs usually go hand-in-hand, so it becomes the fiscally responsible course of action for our community leaders and MPO members.
While we encourage our members to explore the “Taking Action Guides” provided by the MCC, we offer the resources and programs below to help you to “start where you are”.

  • BUILDING EFFICIENCY AND DECARBONIZATION

    Reduce your energy usage through efficiency measures and don’t stop there! When you convert heating systems to electricity with heat pumps and then power them with solar, you put a huge dent in your carbon footprint. Our custom roadmapping service outlines the steps for you.

  • SOLAR POWER

    Whether it’s generated at your facility, generated remotely or at grid scale for you, there is a way for you to access solar power.

  • DEMAND RESPONSE

    If you are a large power consumer with the ability to curtail your usage during periods of peak grid demand without using a generator, you may be able to be paid to do so.

  • ELECTRIFYING OUR HEATING AND TRANSPORTATION

    These two sectors are the source of most of Maine’s greenhouse gas emissions. By converting to heat pump technology for heating and electricity or hydrogen to power vehicles, we can greatly reduce emissions.
