• Your ally in energy management

Maine PowerOptions is an energy-purchasing consortium that serves as an aggregator for Maine’s public and non-profit organizations.

Our group-purchasing programs are designed to increase the buying power of eligible member organizations for the purchase of fuel oil, electricity supply, and other energy services, regardless of their size.

The result is that Maine’s municipalities, non-profit organizations, education institutions, health care organizations, water, sewer, and school districts can have greater control over their energy sources and costs.

Maine PowerOptions was founded in 1999 and is co-sponsored by the Maine Health and Higher Educational Facilities Authority and the Maine Municipal Bond Bank.

What is DASI and How Will it Affect my Electricity Rates? - Maine PowerOptions "Lunch & Learn" Webinar

    August 13, 2025 at 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm - MS Teams
The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has approved an initiative by ISO-New England called the Day-Ahead Ancillary Services Initiative (or DASI), to replace the Forward Reserve Market. This means there will be a small increase to the ancillary charges that all electricity suppliers, including our supplier, Constellation New Energy, will have to start paying to the ISO as they “serve up” energy to users. Starting in July, Constellation plans to pass this increase on to MPO members as allowed under the “Changes in Law” provision of your participant agreements. Brandon Fong from Constellation will unpack this new charge and what we can expect to see on our bills as a result of it.

Beyond Efficiency: Circular Thinking as Your Next Competitive Edge

    August 13, 2025 at 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm - Woodard & Curran 12 Mountfort Street Portland, ME 04101
ClimateWork Maine's Sustainability Council presents this session. Most sustainability conversations focus on doing less harm: using less energy, emitting less carbon, wasting less. But what if we aimed higher? What if we could design waste out of our systems entirely, and create lasting value in the process? In this highly interactive session, you’ll experience the circular economy in action with a tour of a workplace intentionally designed around circular principles. Through dynamic small-group engagement, you’ll discover how circularity is not just about materials. It’s a way of thinking that can be applied to any industry: manufacturing, professional services, technology, retail, food service, and more. From re-imagining resources to reinventing business models, you’ll leave with fresh insights, practical inspiration, and a mindset shift that expands how you define sustainability and success. Presenter: Lisa Whited, a certified circular economy specialist, author of Work Better. Save the Planet, and a consultant to organizations ranging from global corporations to local nonprofits. A current doctoral student in organizational development and change, she led the circular strategy and workplace redesign for the host location of this session and is passionate about using systems thinking and inclusive practices to drive climate-positive transformation.
